Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS

Google · Released Sep 2026

Conditional

Conditional. Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS is Google's cost tier for high-volume speech: stable in the Gemini API, built into Google Vids, and billed at the same text input rate as Flash TTS with a lower audio output rate. Google ranks it second only to Flash TTS on Hume AI's Overall Quality Index, but that ranking is Google-reported and its launch rates are temporary, doubling once the promotion ends. Suits voice-agent cascades and bulk narration where cost per clip matters more than acting range.

Is it right for you?

Good for

  • High-volume speech production and real-time voice-agent cascades, the use Google's model page names
  • Lower audio output cost than Flash TTS on the same pricing page, with batch at half the standard rate
  • Voice replication with consent verification and SynthID watermarking
  • Speech inside Google Vids without an API integration

Not good for

  • Voice replication through Google AI Studio for users in Illinois, Texas, the EEA, the UK, Switzerland or India, where Google does not offer it
  • Dialogue with more than two speakers in one request
  • Deep creative direction and character design, which Google assigns to Flash TTS
