Tally vs Paperform: Unlimited Free Submissions vs a Page-First Builder That Caps Free at 30 a Month
Tally
Unlimited submissions on the free plan, and it means it
Paperform
Forms that read like a page of writing
Verdicts by Task
Tally's free plan lists unlimited forms and submissions within fair use, with payments, signatures and webhooks included, where Paperform's Free plan allows 30 submissions a month.
The fair-use condition is Tally's own wording and free file uploads show a 10MB limit on the pricing page. We have not tested either at volume.
Paperform documents recurring payments through Stripe and says it takes no cut, while Tally's help page says it does not support recurring payments.
Paperform's price starts at Pro for anything beyond 30 submissions a month, and we have not tested either payment flow.
Custom domains and branding removal are part of Tally Pro, while Paperform sells the domain as a +$20 a month add-on on top of Pro.
Billing bases differ in the figures we read, and Paperform Business includes one domain, so price both at the plan you actually need.
Paperform lists scheduling and bookings and Papersign document signing as part of the product; the Tally homepage we read lists neither.
Papersign allowances are capped per plan, and Tally can still collect e-signatures inside a form. We have not tested either.
Feature Comparison
| Dimension | Tally | Paperform |
|---|---|---|
| AI-native | Hybrid | Hybrid |
| What it is | Tally's homepage calls it "the simplest way to create forms"; the builder works "like a text document" where you "just start typing" | Paperform's homepage calls itself "an online form builder like no other" that "combines serious digital smarts with beautiful design", and lists payments, scheduling and bookings, Papersign document signing and one-question-at-a-time layouts |
| Free plan | "Unlimited forms and submissions, completely free, as long as you stay within our fair usage guidelines" | "30 Submissions* / month" on Free, per the pricing page, with unlimited forms and users on every plan |
| First paid plan | Pro displays "$24 per month"; the page also offers a pay-yearly option with "2 months off", and the text we read did not make clear which billing the $24 is shown under | Pro lists at $49 a month billed annually, or $59 billed monthly |
| Submissions on paid plans | The pricing page headline reads "Build beautiful forms for free!" with supporting text on unlimited forms and submissions, and the Pro and Business columns list no submission cap; Pro's Collaboration line says to invite unlimited team members | Pro, Business and Enterprise list "Unlimited Submissions*", with the note that unlimited usage is subject to Paperform's fair use policy |
| Branding and custom domain | Pro removes Tally branding and includes "Custom domains. Host forms on your custom (sub)domain to create branded links." | Pro removes Paperform branding; a custom domain is a +$20 a month add-on on Pro, and Business includes one with each additional at +$20 a month |
| Payments | Payments run through Stripe on Free and Pro accounts, and Tally says "We do not add any extra fees on top of Stripe's pricing"; its help page says "We don't support collecting recurring payments" | Payments are listed on every plan including Free; one-time payments through Stripe, PayPal, Square and Braintree, and recurring payments through Stripe. Paperform says it "does not take a cut of your subscription revenue" |
| Compliance statements | Tally says it is based in Belgium and complies with the GDPR, that form data is encrypted in transit and at rest and stored in Europe, and that a Data Processing Agreement applies. The Tally pages we read (pricing page, homepage, GDPR page, DPA) do not address HIPAA or SOC 2 | Paperform's homepage claims GDPR compliance and SOC 2 Type II certification; its pricing page says "Paperform is not HIPAA compliant and doesn't sign Business Associate Agreements today", that "HIPAA support is planned for the first half of 2027", and that Enterprise plans can be hosted in the EU or Australia |
| Beyond the form | Signatures, file uploads, calculators and hidden fields; integrations include Notion, Google Sheets, Airtable, Slack, Zapier, Make and Pipedream. The homepage we read mentions no scheduling or document-signing product | Papersign signed documents (3, 25 and 100 a month on Free, Pro and Business), scheduling and bookings, Stepper workflow automation, and "4000+ form integrations" on the pricing page |
| Business tier | Business lists at $74 a month (the pricing text we read does not make the billing basis clear) and adds data retention control and email verification | Business lists at $124 a month billed annually, or $149 monthly, and adds SSO (SAML), 10 workspaces and admin and user roles |
Same category, different scope: Tally describes a typing-first form builder, Paperform describes a design-led page builder with payments, bookings and signing attached
Tally for anyone who wants real volume before paying anything
Tally Pro lists lower on the figures we read; compare both on the same billing basis before buying
Level on the pages we read: neither lists a submission cap on a paid plan
Tally includes the domain in Pro; Paperform charges extra for it on Pro
Paperform for subscriptions; Tally documents one-time payments only
Paperform is explicit about its HIPAA position and claims SOC 2 Type II; Tally's pages we read are silent on both, so ask Tally directly before regulated intake
Paperform if the form is one step in a bookings or signing flow; Tally if it is the form itself
Paperform lists SSO and roles at Business; the Tally pricing text we read lists no SSO
