Jotform vs Tally: Forms With HIPAA and Recurring Payments vs Forms With Unlimited Free Submissions

Urteile nach Aufgabe

A high-volume form on a zero budgetTally gewinnt

Tally's free plan lists unlimited forms and submissions within fair usage guidelines, where Jotform Starter allows 100 submissions a month and 500 stored.

Tally Free keeps its branding and shows a 10 MB per-file upload limit, and we have not tested either at volume.

Patient intake that needs a signed BAAJotform gewinnt

Jotform names the plans (Gold or Enterprise) and says Covered Entity customers receive a signed BAA once HIPAA features are enabled.

Gold lists at $129 a month, or $1,188 a year. Vendor features do not make your own handling compliant, and the Tally pages we read are silent rather than negative.

Recurring subscription paymentsJotform gewinnt

Jotform's help page documents recurring payments across several processors, while Tally's help page says it does not support recurring payments.

Jotform caps payment submissions by plan (1,000 a month on Gold), so check the volume before choosing.

A branded custom domain at the lowest list priceTally gewinnt

Custom domains and branding removal are part of Tally Pro at $24 a month, where Jotform lists custom domains at Gold.

Jotform Gold bundles HIPAA features and 100 GB of upload space, so the gap is not a like-for-like feature price.

What it is
Jotform:Homepage headline "The easiest online form builder". It names payments, "150+ integrations", conditional logic, workflow automation and report generation, and says "Trusted by over 40 million users".
Tally:Homepage headline "The simplest way to create forms". It names conditional logic, calculator and variables, hidden fields, file uploads, e-signatures and payments, and says "Powering 500,000+ teams".

Same pitch: both lead with ease and name logic, payments and integrations. The two user counts use different units (users and teams), so do not compare them.

Free plan
Jotform:Starter: 5 active forms, 100 submissions a month, 500 stored submissions, 100 MB of storage, 10 payment submissions a month, Jotform branding included.
Tally:Free: unlimited forms and unlimited submissions within Tally's fair usage guidelines, with payments, signatures, file uploads (10 MB per file), conditional logic and integrations; Tally branding stays.

Tally, by a wide margin on volume.

First paid plan
Jotform:Bronze: $39 a month or $408 a year, 25 active forms, 1,000 submissions a month, 100 payment submissions a month, 1 GB of storage, branding removable.
Tally:Pro: $24 a month; the page also offers a pay-yearly option with "2 months off", and the text we read gives no dollar figure for the yearly price. Lists branding removal, custom domains, partial submissions, analytics and unlimited team members. The pricing text we read states no forms or submissions limit for Pro.

Tally lists lower at $24 a month against $39 for Jotform Bronze; the pricing text we read shows no submission cap on Pro, while Bronze caps at 1,000 a month. Compare yearly prices on one billing basis before buying.

Highest self-serve tier
Jotform:Gold: $129 a month or $1,188 a year, 100 active forms, 10,000 submissions a month, 100,000 stored submissions. On the pricing page we read, unlimited submissions appear only on custom-priced Enterprise.
Tally:Business: $74 a month (the text we read does not give a yearly figure); all Pro features plus data retention control, email verification and 90-day version history. The pricing text we read states no forms or submissions limit.

Tally for volume at a lower list price ($74 against $129 a month); Gold's extra cost buys HIPAA and a larger feature set (see HIPAA).

HIPAA
Jotform:Jotform's HIPAA page says "By signing up for either the Gold or Enterprise plan, Jotform offers you access to HIPAA-enabled templates, integrations, and plug-ins", and that Covered Entity customers with HIPAA features enabled "will also receive a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA)".
Tally:The Tally pricing page, homepage and help index we read do not mention HIPAA or a Business Associate Agreement.

Jotform, because it publishes the plan and the BAA. Ask Tally directly before using it for regulated intake; the pages we read are silent, which is not a statement that it is unsupported.

Payments
Jotform:The payment-gateways page says "30+ popular payment gateways" and "all without any additional transaction fees". The recurring-payments help page lists Stripe, PayPal and Square among the processors that support recurring payments. Payment submissions are capped by plan (10 on Starter, 100 on Bronze, 1,000 on Gold).
Tally:Stripe. The help page says "To use the payment block, you need a free or Tally Pro account and a free Stripe account", "We do not add any extra fees on top of Stripe's pricing", and "We don't support collecting recurring payments". The Tally pricing text we read lists no payment-submission cap.

Jotform for subscriptions or a processor other than Stripe; Tally for one-time Stripe payments on a free account.

Signatures and documents
Jotform:Jotform Sign is presented as a separate product ("Create, share, and e-sign documents in minutes"). The pricing page lists signed documents a month from 10 on Starter up to unlimited on Enterprise.
Tally:A signature field inside the form, listed on the free plan, and a PDF creation guide in the help index. The Tally pages we read describe no standalone signing product.

Jotform if signing is a workflow of its own; Tally if collecting a signature on a form is enough.

Security and compliance statements
Jotform:The security page says Jotform is GDPR compliant, "PCI DSS Service Provider Level 1 compliant" and CCPA compliant, that a dedicated Enterprise environment "aligns with the five SOC 2 Trust Service Principles", and that EU data is stored in Frankfurt.
Tally:The homepage says "GDPR compliant", data encrypted in transit and at rest, and hosted in Europe. The Tally pages we read state no SOC 2 or PCI claim.

Jotform publishes the longer list. Note that its SOC 2 wording is about a dedicated Enterprise environment, not every account.

Branding and custom domain
Jotform:Branding is included on Starter and removable from Bronze. Custom domains are listed at Gold and Enterprise.
Tally:Pro removes Tally branding and includes custom domains.

Tally, at $24 a month list against $129 a month list for Jotform Gold.

Team seats
Jotform:On the pricing page we read, Starter, Bronze, Silver and Gold are each described as a single-user self-serve plan (Gold: 'Highest single-user self-serve tier'); Enterprise is the 'Multi-user plan for large organizations and advanced governance/security'.
Tally:Pro lists inviting unlimited team members to shared workspaces.

Tally for a small team on a budget.

AI
Jotform:Pricing lists AI Agents on every plan: 5 active agents on Starter, with monthly allowances for conversations, sessions, voice call minutes and SMS that rise to unlimited on Enterprise.
Tally:The homepage we read names no AI feature; the help index lists ChatGPT and Claude among integrations.

Jotform lists an AI product with published allowances; Tally's pages we read list assistant integrations and no AI product. We have not tested either.
