# Cursor moves to usage-based pricing: small teams should re-run the math

Per-seat pricing is gone for new plans. Light users get cheaper, heavy agent users could pay 2-3x more.

Cursor announced that new subscriptions move from per-seat to usage-based pricing, metered on agent requests rather than seats.

For teams where only a few people use agentic features heavily, this is a price cut. For teams running background agents all day, monthly costs can multiply.

Existing per-seat plans are grandfathered until December. We are re-running our team-tooling cost comparison and will publish updated numbers in an upcoming issue.
